History-Monuments-Scenic Attraction
The former name of the village was Hotena.The village was relocated from its original site three kilometres to the west during Turkish Rule. VISIT the mineral springs at Sultana and the churches of the village, in particular that of Saint Paraskevi.
Customs-Traditions
The village Church of Saint Paraskevi dates from about 1600 and is Byzantine in style. There are old icons that, because of their value have been removed from open worship. It is said that on passing through the village, Georgios Karaiskakis left money behind for the restoration of the church. The Church of the Holy Virgin is 500 metres north of the village, was built about the beginning of the 20th century and restored in 1980. Saint Ioannis, one kilometre south of the village, and the Chapel of Profit Elias, two kilometres to the west, are open on their Holy Days.
